Leadership and Governance
All leadership positions in AIST require membership in AIST and active employment in the iron and steel industry. Refer to the Bylaws for term duration and other requirements.
The Board consists of 29 Directors including: ten officers, the President of the AIST Foundation, representatives from the Association's nine Technology Divisions, and commensurate representation from nine of the Association's Member Chapters.
Each Chapter shall have, at a minimum, the following officers: (i) Chair, (ii) Vice Chair and (iii) Secretary. Many Chapters also utilize additional officers such as Membership Chair, Scholarship Chair, etc.
Each Technology Committee shall have, at a minimum, the following officers: (i) Chair and (ii) Vice Chair. Many Committees also utilize additional officers such as Membership Chair, Papers Chair, etc.
The AIST International Steel Academy provides in-depth instruction focused on the fundamental elements of steelmaking (MSTS 201) and the fundamental elements of steel shaping and treating (MSTS 202). Each of these courses is four days in length and held concurrently. The individual courses are subdivided into the various processes required to produce quality steel products in today's economy.
