Purpose: |
The
AIST Distinguished Member and Fellow Award, established
in 1975, shall be awarded to an AIST member who has made
outstanding contributions to the iron and steel industry
and has contributed to the activities of the association.
AIST Distinguished Member and Fellows receive complimentary
registration to AISTech and MS&T each year.

Nomination
Process: |
Nominations shall be made by completing Sections 1 through 5
of the AIST Award Nomination
Form. Five letters of endorsement, a biography
and proposed citation are required with each nomination. |
| Qualifications: |
A candidate shall be an AIST member who has attained eminent
distinction in advancing the technical development, production,
processing and application of iron and steel and/or related
activities of the industry, and has performed meritorious service
to the association. Posthumous nominations shall be eligible. |
Selection
Process: |
A
committee consisting of the AIST President (chair), the AIST
First Vice President and the immediate five living Past Presidents
will select up to five candidates for board approval. A two-thirds
vote of the board of directors shall be required for elevation
to Distinguished Member and Fellow. The maximum number of living
Distinguished Member and Fellows (£ 80 years of age) shall
not exceed 1 percent of the AIST membership. |
