History of the AIST San Francisco Member Chapter

In 1955, the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers (AISE) San Francisco District Section was created. The following year, in 1956, the neighboring AISE Utah section was created. The Colorado District section was created in 1959, and later became a part of the Utah section. In 1975, the Iron and Steel Society (ISS) formed the Western section. With the merger of AISE and ISS in 2004, the AISE San Francisco and Utah sections and parts of the ISS Western section were consolidated to form the AIST San Francisco Member Chapter. The San Francisco Member Chapter includes Northern California, Nevada and Utah.
