Dinner Meeting — March 2013
On Tuesday, 12 March 2013, the Detroit Member Chapter hosted a dinner meeting at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich. The dinner featured a keynote presentation by David Brandau of Severstal Dearborn. The title of Brandau’s presentation was, “The Start-Up of the Severstal Dearborn 72-Inch Hot-Dip Galvanizing Line.”
Vegas Night — February 2013
The Detroit Member Chapter hosted its annual Vegas Night scholarship benefit on Friday, 15 February at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich. There were 120 attendees at the event.
Dinner Meeting — November 2012
On Tuesday, 13 November, the Detroit Member Chapter hosted a dinner meeting at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich. “Steam Coffin: Captain Moses Rogers and the Steamship Savannah Break the Barrier” was presented by historian, John L. Busch. There were 110 attendees at the dinner.
Dinner Meeting – October 2012
On Tuesday, 9 October, the Detroit Member chapter held a dinner meeting at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich. The evening was sponsored by DTE Energy and featured a keynote presentation by Rob Bacyinski, Program Manager – Alternative Fuel Vehicles for DTE Energy. His presentation was entitled “Natural Gas – The Alternative Fuel for Transportation”. There were 120 attendees at the dinner.
Dinner Meeting – September 2012
On Tuesday, 11 September, the Detroit Member Chapter hosted a social night/dinner meeting at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich., where attendees were able to reconnect with business contacts and receive an update on the Detroit Member Chapter. There were 120 attendees at the dinner.
Golf Outing – August 2012
On Monday, 6 August 2012, the Detroit Member Chapter hosted its annual golf outing at the Walnut Creek Country Club in South Lyon, Mich. A sold-out crowd of 258 golfers participated this year. The event was a great success. Proceeds from the event will go to the AIST Detroit Member Chapter Scholarship fund.
Dinner Meeting – April 2012
The Detroit Member Chapter hosted a dinner meeting at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich., on Tuesday, 17 April. It was the chapter’s annual United States Steel Corporation night. The keynote presentation was given by Bart DePompolo, technical marketing manager, U. S. Steel – Automotive Center. His presentation was entitled, “Keeping Steel the Material Choice for the Automotive Market.” Also at the dinner, Wendell Amica of U. S. Steel was presented with a plaque recognizing his term as the 2011–2012 chapter chair. There were 230 attendees at the dinner.
Dinner Meeting – March 2012
On Tuesday, 13 March, the Detroit Member Chapter hosted the Severstal Dearborn Night dinner meeting at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich. The keynote presenters were Larry Flowers, division manager — finishing operations, and John Tomasaitis, lead project engineer — cold mill modernization, both from Severstal Dearborn. Their presentation was entitled, “Severstal Dearborn PLTCM: Overview of Construction, Commissioning and Operations of a New Facility.” There were 260 attendees at the dinner.
Vegas Night Scholarship Benefit – February 2012
On Friday, 24 February, the Detroit Member Chapter hosted a “Vegas Night” themed scholarship benefit at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich. More than 170 attendees participated in this second annual event. The benefit was held to raise money to help support the Detroit Member Chapter’s scholarship fund.
Dinner Meeting – November 2011
The Detroit Member Chapter hosted a dinner meeting on Tuesday, 8 November 2011 at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich., USA. The event included a keynote presentation by Michael Shafer, business unit manager — technology at DTE Energy. Shafer’s presentation was entitled, “Cokemaking: 101.” There were 125 attendees at the dinner.
Dinner Meeting – October 2011
The AIST Detroit Member Chapter hosted a Member Appreciation Night on Tuesday, 11 October at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, Mich. The AIST Detroit Member Chapter 2011 Wimmer Outstanding Service Award was presented to SMS Millcraft, followed by a special presentation by Greg Merta of SMS Millcraft. There were 125 attendees at the event. To extend their thanks to the supporting members, the chapter raffled off eight gift cards for Best Buy and three paid AIST memberships for 2012. |
