A TASTE OF THE PEACH WITH A STOP AT CNN CENTER

Prepare yourself for an exciting taste of Atlanta. This city tour will introduce you to the sprawling metropolis locals fondly call "The Big Peach".

Relax as your experienced guide acquaints you with the city's history--from its fiery past to its exciting future. You will learn how Atlanta grew from the destruction of the Civil War era to the dramatic destination chosen to host the 1996 Olympic Games. No stone will be left unturned.

Drive through downtown to witness the blend of past and present that makes the city so strikingly handsome. Catch a glimpse of Peachtree Center, Georgia's gold-domed State Capitol, the Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Dome, Philips Arena, Centennial Olympic Park, CNN Center and much, much more. You will also drive through the Martin Luther King, Jr. Historic District on "Sweet Auburn Avenue" and pass by the MLK Center, Dr. King's birth home and tomb. Then it’s off toward revitalized Midtown, home of the world headquarters of the Coca-Cola Company, the ever-expanding campus of Georgia Institute of Technology and the newly constructed Atlantic Station, with a live, work and play environment.

Continue your trail of history down world famous Peachtree Street, past the Fabulous Fox Theater, circa 1929, the Woodruff Arts Center and the newly renovated and highly contemporary High Museum of Art. You will drive through the exclusive Northside, one of Atlanta's prime residential districts, passing by the Georgia Governor's Mansion and the Atlanta History Center, which incorporates the Atlanta History Museum, the Tullie Smith 1840’s Farm and a 1928 Historic mansion, the Swan House.

Guests will also enjoy a visit to one of Atlanta’s most popular attractions – CNN Center! Over two decades ago, Ted Turner, a relative unknown, had a vision of a "Superstation" that would cover the earth via an underground cable network. It would provide homes with the best in television programming (both new and vintage), movies, news, weather and sports. The big boys laughed at the thought that cable would ever upset the rulers of the airwaves. They aren't laughing now.

As Turner's Superstation has grown into a Supernetwork, one component of the empire he founded continues to surface as the leader in the field. Introducing your first famous first: Cable News Network. CNN and Headline News have their home in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Today, you will catch a glimpse of the fast-paced excitement of a 24-hour news broadcast in the making with a tour of Inside CNN Atlanta. You'll view the newsroom, the cameras and lights, and all the other behind-the-scenes places and things the viewing public never sees.

Inside CNN Atlanta includes more than $5.5 million in recent additions and upgrades, transforming the tour into a new experience for first time or returning guests. New elements are featured throughout the tour, starting “inside the world of CNN” in a dramatic globe, approximately 48-feet in diameter, atop CNN Center’s famous atrium escalator. Other new features include a completely
new control room stop, new interactive kiosks, corridors of history depicting the network’s famous breaking news coverage, flat screen monitors with live news, and a new tour finale with personal video reports from CNN’s best known award winning journalists.

Guests are also invited to enjoy lunch on their own at the CNN Center food court which features a variety of food choices!
