Modern Electric Furnace Steelmaking — A Practical Training Seminar in conjunction with the Specialty Steelmaking Training Seminar

The 17th annual Electric Furnace Steelmaking — A Practical Training Seminar was held in Charleston, S.C., on 6–10 February 2012. This year marked the first joint training seminar with the Specialty Steelmaking Training Seminar. Nucor Steel–Berkeley served as the plant host. There were 182 people in attendance. Giff Daughtridge, Nucor Steel–Berkeley vice president and general manager, was the keynote speaker. Jeremy Jones, Transfield Services, and Larry Heaslip, Interflow TechServ Inc., have been training seminar presenters since 1995. Dave Bauer, Erie Copper Works, missed the initial year, but marked his 16th year as a training seminar presenter. Allen Chan, Praxair Inc., and Brett McGee, GrafTech International Holdings Inc., served as co-chairs for this joint training seminar.
