The Making, Shaping and Treating of Steel: 101 was held on 23–25 September 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The conference had 69 attendees, including one

student whose attendance was sponsored by the AIST Foundation’s Steel to Students Training Program. Ronald J. O’Malley, Missouri University of Science and Technology, opened the program on Tuesday,

23 September 2014 with a discussion on the history of the steel industry, ironmaking and steelmaking, secondary steelmaking, and the solidification of steel. Bob Greuter, Danieli Corp., continued the course on Wednesday, 24 September 2014 with a discussion focused on end products, rolling, steel types and properties, classification of defects and downstream processing. The course wrapped up with a tour of ArcelorMittal Cleveland on Thursday, 25 September 2014.
