The 21st Century Transformation of the American Steel Industry
The AIST president, Richard P. Teets Jr., will host the President’s Award Breakfast on Wednesday, May 9 in the Sagamore Ballroom inside the Indiana Convention Center. The breakfast program will consist of the presentation of several prestigious association awards and AIME awards, followed by a keynote presentation by Keith E. Busse, chairman and chief executive officer of Steel Dynamics Inc. Advance single tickets are US$35. Tables of 10 are available at US$350.
Keith E. Busse holds an accounting degree from International Business College, a bachelor’s degree in business finance from the University of Saint Francis and an M.B.A. from Indiana University (1978). He has received numerous awards, including the Wall Street Journal award for academic excellence, and was among Business Week’s top 10 entrepreneurs in 1997. He’s also been listed in Outstanding Young Men of America and the Who’s Who World Registry. Prior to founding Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) in 1993, Busse worked for Nucor Corp. for 21 years, ultimately becoming vice president and general manager of Nucor Steel–Indiana. At Nucor, he led a team that built and operated the world’s first minimill using thin slab casting steelmaking technology.
