AIST is an international technical association of more than 14,400 professional and student members, representing iron and steel producers, their allied suppliers and related academia. The association is dedicated to advancing the technical development, production, processing and application of iron and steel.
In
the past several years, the steel industry has undergone revolutionary
change. From mergers and consolidations to bankruptcies and legacy
costs, the global developments that have taken place in the industry
have dramatically affected technical societies that support advancements
in steelmaking knowledge and practices. Two longstanding societies,
the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers (AISE) and the Iron
& Steel Society (ISS), have now come together to build an organization that can endure the changes
in the industry while providing unparalleled value for their combined
membership.
The
Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) was established
on January 1, 2004, with a goal of advancing the technical development,
production, processing and application of iron and steel. The best
practices of both predecessor organizations were incorporated into
AIST, and we now have a strong, international, member-based technical
organization that can sustain itself in an environment of continual
change.
AIST
is committed to presenting superior technical meetings, conferences,
exhibits and publications to better serve those involved in the
iron and steel community, including steel manufacturers, suppliers,
consumers and academics.
