Steel to Students Training Program
The AIST Foundation is pleased to announce the Steel to Students Training Program. This initiative will provide up to US$1,000 in assistance for post-secondary vocational/technical school students, undergraduate and graduate-level students to attend AIST’s Specialty Training Conferences and AIST Member Chapter Annual Meetings that include a technical program. Students need to complete the Steel to Students Training Program Application. AIST represents individual members in the iron and steel community from more than 70 countries around the world. Specialty Training Conferences are an integral component in facilitating the exchange of ideas and strengthening AIST's global network. AIST’s Technology Committees offer steel industry professionals the opportunity to participate in the organization through the Specialty Training Conferences. This program will provide students with increased opportunities to become familiar with Technology Committees and learn firsthand from industry leaders in various steelmaking fields.
Membership in the Material Advantage program is only US$25/year, and includes full membership to all four organizations, along with special conference rates, travel grants and publications discounts. In addition, Material Advantage members will receive the printed journal from each organization on a monthly rotating basis. These journals include American Cermaic Society Bulletin (ACerS), Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), Advanced Materials and Processes (ASM) and JOM (TMS).
AIST, along with our Material Advantage partners, has gathered all available resources to help students find financial assistance. Over US$600,000 in scholarships is available through societies, chapters and foundations.

HOW
TO APPLY FOR MATERIAL ADVANTAGE MEMBERSHIP
Visit the Material Advantage website for the complete listing of all the benefits of belonging to Material Advantage and to join AIST through the Material Advantage program (administered through our partnership with TMS).
The International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI) has developed an interactive, Web-based resource on steel processing technologies and applications called steeluniversity.org. Targeted at undergraduate students and their teachers, as well as engineers already employed by the steel industry, steeluniversity.org provides practical examples from the industry that illustrate and apply fundamental scientific, metallurgical and engineering principles. It also provides a range of realistic simulations of steel processing from raw materials to semifinished steel products and their applications. Learners can take control of a virtual steel plant and make operational decisions. Visit the website to find out what steeluniversity.org is all about.
