Technology
Divisions
The
AIST Technology Divisions represent all phases of iron and steel
technology. Each Division will include multiple Operating Committees
addressing related technologies providing forums facilitating the
advancement of the AIST mission. AIST will begin with the following
eleven Technology Divisions:
I.
Iron Producing
II. Electric Steelmaking
III. Oxygen Steelmaking
IV. Continuous Casting
V. Rolling and Finishing
VI. Process Metallurgy and Product Applications
VII. Process Automation, Control and Technology
VIII. Material Handling and Facilities
IX. Maintenance and Reliability
X. Project and Plant Management
XI. Safety, Energy and Environment
The
Technology Divisions will consist of only the officers from their
various Operating Committees. The primary function of the Technology
Divisions will be to coordinate activities between the Divisions
and nominate a representative to serve on the AIST Board of Directors.
Operating
Committees
Within
each Technology Division will be multiple volunteer-based Operating
Committees populated by AIST members with similar technical interests.
Through an array of activities, these committees will sponsor forums
to facilitate discussion relative to the technical development,
production, processing and application of iron and steel.
These
activities include:
- Technical
program development for annual conferences, including the solicitation
of technical papers.
- Specialty
conference and symposia creation, including the development of
program outlines, identifying speakers, and participating in roundtable
discussions.
- Plant
tours to highlight unique steelmaking or manufacturing facilities
of current interest.
- Roundtable
discussions to debate topics of interest.
- Peer
recognition through the development of industry awards.
- Benchmarking
best practices and other problem-solving techniques.
- Access
to a committee listserver to enhance peer interaction and networking.
To
be formally recognized as a member of a committee, you must be a
member of AIST and attend at least one committee meeting per year. |
