Antonio Marcegaglia
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Marcegaglia

Antonio Marcegaglia graduated from high school with a scientific diploma and enrolled at Bocconi University in Milan, where he graduated with honors in business administration in 1987. At a young age, he began working in the family group's companies, partnering with his father and the management at the time in running daily operations.

By the age of 30, he took on the role of president of several group companies, overseeing their management, strategies, industrial development policies and internationalization. Just two years later, in 1993, he became chief executive officer (CEO) of the parent company, Marcegaglia Spa, and its various subsidiaries.

He is vice president of Federacciai, the Confindustria association that brings together Italian steel companies, a role he has held several times in the past and has been reconfirmed for the 2024–2026 term. He is also part of the leadership of major Italian and foreign organizations in the steel sector. He was among the promoters and is a member of ESPA (European Steel Processors Association), the European association that unites steel processors. Previously, he was president of ESTA, the association of European steel tube manufacturers.

Currently, he sits on the supervisory board of the Fives Group and on the board of directors of publicly listed companies such as Gabetti Property Solutions. From 2011 to 2023, he was a member of the board of directors of Lavazza. In February 2024, he became a member of the scientific committee of the Bruno Kessler Foundation.

In December 2024, he received the Forbes Italia CEO Award 2024 in the Industry category. In July 2010, he was instrumental in establishing the Marcegaglia Foundation. The nonprofit supports solidarity and cooperation projects both abroad, in the poorest areas of the world, and in Italy, supporting initiatives aimed at combating social exclusion, domestic violence, and new poverty, particularly focusing on aiding women and youth.

Today, he serves as president of Marcegaglia Steel and all the group's subsidiaries that operate in the steel processing sector, a role he has held since October 2013, when he succeeded his father.
