Jiangsu Shagang to Expand Production Capacity with Siemens Rod Outlets
10/19/2009 - Jiangsu Shagang awards contracts to Siemens VAI Metals Technologies for two new rod outlets to increase capacity and improve product quality at its Zhangjiagang mill.
The Jiangsu Shagang Group Co. has awarded contracts to Siemens VAI Metals Technologies for two new rod outlets to increase capacity and improve product quality at its Zhangjiagang mill. The value of the order is more than €10 million.
Delivery of the first rod outlet is planned for mid-2010; third quarter 2010 is the target for the second.
The scope for each mill includes the supply of a four-stand Pre-Finishing Mill (PFM) arrangement, a 10-stand Vee No-Twist Mill (NTM), a pinch roll/laying head arrangement and a coil compactor for one of the strands plus the design of other related equipment from the PFM to the reform station. The Vee-No Twist Mill is said to be capable of sustained, reliable operation at a speed of 105 meters per second to produce rod from 5.5 to 16 mm, and rebar from 6 to 16 mm.
Siemens VAI also will supply the guides for the PFM and the NTM, troughs, water boxes, pinch rolls, and laying heads. The Stelmor controlled-cooling conveyor system enables the mill to produce a wide spectrum of plain carbon and alloy steels, among them structural steel, high carbon, low alloy, and cold heading steel.
No Twist and Stelmor are registered trademarks of Morgan Construction Co., a Siemens VAI Business.
