1. Registration - Back to top

i.         Why were the dates for AISTech 2021 changed?

In simple terms, AISTech 2021 is being held later in the year to improve the odds for a safe, successful in-person event. Working with various cities capable of supporting an event the size of AISTech, we found that 29 June-1 July represents our best option currently available. We believe the additional eight weeks of time from the original 3-6 May 2021 dates will enable more participation from the steel industry.

AISTech represents one of the world’s largest in-person learning platforms for iron and steel technology. It is also a networking catalyst whereby many companies, large and small, generate the business that drives the steel economy. To ensure the success of the in-person event, we are committed to making sure the necessary pandemic safety protocols are in effect for AISTech 2021. Safety First shall always prevail.

ii.         When will AISTech 2021 Registration and Housing open?

AISTech 2021 Registration and Housing will open on 15 February 2021.

At this point in time, we do not anticipate limiting or restricting attendance. However, we will follow the federal, state and local guidelines for pandemic safety protocols in effect at the time of the event. Should these protocols limit or restrict attendance, priority will be given to those already registered.

iii.         If I had previously registered for AISTech 2020, do I have to register again for AISTech 2021?

All AISTech 2020 registrants had the option to receive a full refund or transfer the registration to AISTech 2021. If you chose to transfer your registration to AISTech 2021, you will be contacted by AIST to re-confirm your registration transfer. Once your registration transfer is complete, you will receive a new registration confirmation for AISTech 2021.

If you have questions relating to AISTech registrations, please send an email to registration@aist.org or call us at +1.724.814.3000, extension 1.

iv.         Will there be a virtual component to AISTech 2021?

Yes. Due to the evolving travel restrictions, both international and within the United States, AIST feels it is necessary to offer a virtual option for AISTech 2021 participation to ensure the widest possible involvement of the global steel industry. Details for virtual involvement will be finalized before Registration opens on 15 February 2021.
With a Virtual Full Conference Registration, you will have access to over 40 virtual technical sessions live and on demand, the virtual Exposition, the virtual President’s Award Breakfast and Town Hall Forum, and access to the Conference Proceedings.

8. Safety & Health Considerations - Back to top

i.         AIST, in collaboration with the Music City Center (MCC), event contractors, decorators and other service providers, has written these Essential Considerations for Safely Conducting AISTech to provide information for producing AISTech during the COVID-19 pandemic.

These considerations were written to not be prescriptive, but rather to provide general information and areas for special attention. Each exhibition or event is different. The audience, size, industry, complexity, venue and city must be taken into consideration when planning for the exhibition. AIST will understand the current laws of the country, state/province and city in which their event is being held, working with local officials to ensure the event is in compliance. Regularly reviewing the guidance of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) is strongly advised.

Finally, the current situation with COVID-19 is fluid, with new information about the virus becoming known almost daily. As information is released, this document will be updated, and the reader is encouraged to regularly check for updates. It is our hope, as the crisis lessens, that some of the preventive measures in this document will no longer be necessary. AIST is committed to keeping its members, attendees, and exhibitors updated as new information is made available from our association partners. For your review, here are the Music City Center’s current guidelines for Creating Safe, Noteworthy Experiences.
