1. Registration - Back to top

i.

 

I registered for AISTech prior to it being postponed. What happens to my registration now?

All AISTech registrations will be transferred automatically to the rescheduled program and you will receive an email acknowledgment(s) in the coming weeks. For those unable to participate during the new dates, please know our registration refund policy will be extended until 3 August 2020.

ii.

 

What if I want to change or cancel my registration?

If you would like to upgrade or add something to your registration (Plant Tour, President’s Award Breakfast Ticket, Proceedings, etc.) click here and select access my registration. If you need to cancel or remove something from your registration, contact AIST Member Services.

What is the new cancellation deadline for AISTech 2020?

3 August 2020

Will my badge still be mailed to me before AISTech 2020?

No. Upon arrival at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland please report to the registration counter to retrieve your credentials.

v.

 

I registered for the technical conference as a Non-Member, when will I receive membership in AIST, and when will it expire?

If you registered for the technical conference as a non-member, you will receive membership in AIST at the conclusion of AISTech 2020. Your membership will be valid until 31 December 2021.

vi.

 

I selected to receive the conference proceedings as a USB. Will I still receive the USB?

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, we are unable to supply conference proceedings via USB. All technical conference registrants will now receive the conference proceedings via digital download. Instructions for download will be sent the week of AISTech 2020 to the email used when registering.

Will my hotel reservation be transferred to the corresponding new AISTech dates?

All hotel reservations made through AISTech Housing Bureau (Destination Cleveland) will be transferred automatically to the corresponding dates for the rescheduled AISTech 2020. You will receive an email acknowledgment(s) for your updated reservation.

ii.

 

What should I do if I have to amend my hotel reservation?

Visit the AISTech Housing page, click Reserve Now, then Modify My Reservation, Enter your confirmation number and your reservation will appear for you to amend. 

iii.

 

What if I am on the waiting list for a hotel?

The current wait list remains in place. If a room becomes available, the hotel will secure the room nights requested and send you a confirmation of your registration - no payment will be required at this time.

iv.

 

If I am not sure I can attend, should I cancel my reservation and re-book later? 

At this point, we recommend that you do not cancel your hotel reservation(s) as you would then be subject to future availability and rates. Please review your reservation confirmation for individual cancellation deadlines.

Can I still make a hotel reservation for AISTech 2020? 

Yes, please visit our official AISTech housing page online for details.


3. Technical Conference - Back to top

Why haven’t you cancelled the technical conference for 2020?

As a rallying point and an opportunity to show progress for the steel industry, AISTech is a catalyst for business and therefore represents an important event for our industry. We are determined to help generate steel business activity as soon as it is safe and practical to do so, and we value your support in this effort.

ii.

 

I am an author, when am I scheduled to present?

Please visit the AISTech online program and search for your name or presentation title.

iii.

 

When is my presentation draft due?

The new deadline is 15 July 2020.

iv. 

 

Can I still submit my paper to be included in the conference proceedings?

Yes. The new deadline is 1 July 2020. Unfortunately, papers received after this deadline will not be included. 

v.

 

Do I need to be registered for the conference for my paper to be included in the proceedings?

Yes. Authors must be registered by 1 July 2020 for their paper to be included in the conference proceedings.

vi.

 

What if I cancelled my presentation prior to the postponement and would like to be scheduled back into the program?

We have scheduled new presentations into the openings created by cancellations. However, AIST will notify the program organizers that your paper is available for consideration and, if selected, you will be sent an invitation to present. Please contact Lauren Dlugopolski to express your interest.

As a presenter, do I still have access to the online AISTech 2020 speaker portal?

Yes, the AISTech Speaker Portal and your login credentials will remain the same. Please contact Lauren Dlugopolski if you need assistance.

viii.

 

Are you still accepting new abstracts for consideration?

Yes, please visit the AISTech 2020 Call for Papers to make your submission.  AIST will notify the program organizers that your paper is available for consideration and, if selected, you will be sent an invitation to present.

Why haven’t you cancelled the exposition for 2020?

As a rallying point and an opportunity to show progress for the steel industry, AISTech is a catalyst for business and therefore represents an important event for our industry. We are determined to help generate steel business activity as soon as it is safe and practical to do so, and we value your support in this effort.

ii.

 

My company reserved exhibit space at AISTech prior to the postponement. What happens to my exhibit space now?

All AISTech exhibit space will be transferred automatically to the rescheduled program.

iii.

 

If my company is unable to participate for the new dates, will you refund my exhibit fee?

AIST will offer a refund to any exhibiting company who needs to cancel their booth reservation due to material hardship associated with Coronavirus. The refund request must be received in writing at AIST by 11:59 p.m. ET on 8 July 2020. Cancellations received after 8 July 2020 will be subject to the AISTech Exhibitor Rules and Regulations.

All refunds will be issued after 1 June 2020 and will be in the form of a check payable to the exhibiting company.

iv.

 

My company wants to downsize its current square footage on the exhibit floor. Can I receive a refund for the reduced portion? Will my booth location be compromised by the change?

AIST will offer a pro-rata refund to any exhibiting company who needs to downsize their booth reservation due to material hardship associated with Coronavirus. The pro-rata refund request must be received in writing at AIST by 11:59 p.m. ET on 8 July 2020. Requests received after 8 July 2020 will be subject to the AISTech Exhibitor Rules and Regulations.

All refunds will be issued after 1 June 2020 and will be in the form of a check payable to the exhibiting company. 

AIST will make every effort to keep you in or close to your existing location, but cannot guarantee this is possible.

Will my ancillary fees to AIST’s general exhibit contractor (Fern) be transferred automatically?

Yes, Fern’s OneView portal will be updated to reflect new dates and all prepayments and orders will be transferred to the new dates. Exhibitors can continue to view their order and payment status via this online portal. If you need to make an adjustment and are unable to do so via the online portal, contact Fern directly at +1.614.253.1500.

vi.

 

I registered multiple people within my company for the exhibit and/or technical conference. Will these registrations be transferred to the new dates?

All AISTech registrations will be transferred automatically to the rescheduled program and you will receive an email acknowledgment(s) in the coming weeks. For those unable to participate during the new dates, please know our registration refund policy will be extended until 3 August 2020.

vii.

 

I purchased Rainprotection insurance; will this policy be transferred to the new dates? 

All AISTech Rainprotection insurance purchased will be transferred automatically to the rescheduled program and you will receive an email acknowledgment(s) with revised certificates in the coming weeks. If you need to cancel your insurance policy with Rainprotection, please reply to the email received by Rainprotection accordingly. As long as your request is received before the start date of the policy, they will issue a refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee.

Is exhibit space still available for AISTech?

You can still reserve booth space online at AISTech.org or call our sales team at +1.724.814.3000, ext. 2. Please contact us for the latest information regarding available exhibit space.

How do I contact any of AISTech’s Official Show Contractors to make changes or place an order?

5. Iron & Steel Technology Advertisements – AISTech Show Issue - Back to top

i.

 

What happens to the advertisement purchased by my company for the AISTech show issue?

All companies advertising in the May issue will receive an additional complimentary ad in the new AISTech Show Issue – September. The September issue material due date is 28 July.

ii.

 

Can I purchase an ad in the new show issue?

Yes. The new AISTech Show issue is scheduled for September. Ad closing is 22 July and material is due by 28 July.


6. Students - Back to top

i.

 

If I registered for AISTech 2020 as a student before the postponement, but have since graduated or will graduate before the new date, will my student registration still be honored?

Yes, if you registered as a student for AISTech 2020 before 18 March 2020 and have graduated, your student registration will be honored for the new date.

ii.

 

I submitted an entry for the Undergraduate Student Project Presentation Contest or Graduate Student Poster Contest, but am no longer that type of student. Am I still eligible to compete in the contest?

As long as you were an undergraduate or graduate at the time of entry and were selected to present in the contest(s), you are still eligible to participate.

iii.

 

Will the Student Travel Grant deadline be extended past 1 April 2020?

Yes, the deadline has been extended. All students that register for AISTech 2020 by 31 July 2020 will receive a US$250 Travel Grant payable onsite at the Steel to Students Recruiting Reception.
 

iv.

 

When can I sign up for the Student Plant Tour?

Details about registering for the student plant tour will be sent to all registered students in mid-July. If you have any questions before then, please contact Courtney Shaffer.


7. AIST Foundation Golf Classic - Back to top

i. 

 

What is the new date and location for the AIST Foundation Golf Classic?

The Foundation Golf Classic will be held on Sunday, 30 August 2020 and will be hosted by Mayfield Country Club, South Euclid, Ohio, USA.

ii.

 

Will my golf registration be honored for the rescheduled date?

Yes, all golf registrations will be transferred automatically to the rescheduled program.

iii.

 

What if I can’t attend the event on the new date?

For those unable to participate on the new date, you may donate your registration fee to the AIST Foundation, or cancel your golf registration and request a refund by contacting memberservices@aist.org.

Can I make changes to my sponsorship of the event?

If you wish to make changes to a golf sponsorship for the event, please contact cmckelvey@aist.org.
