New Developments in AHSS

International Symposium on New Developments in Advanced High-Strength Sheet Steels

19–22 June 2023 • The Hythe Vail • Vail, CO USA

Substantial efforts are ongoing toward the development and implementation of advanced high-strength sheet steels (AHSS). These steels are of particular importance to the automotive industry, where their application enables improved fuel economy, extends the range of electric vehicles and increases occupant passive safety. The scope of the conference is to bring together the international community to highlight state-of-the-art research and development pertaining to AHSS.

Contributions are sought to address the latest developments in:
  • Physical and mechanical metallurgy.

  • Alloy and process design.

  • Industrial processing, including coating responses.

  • Manufacturing performance such as forming and welding.

  • In-service performance, including baking and high strain-rate responses.

Steel grades of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Dual phase (DP).

  • Transformation-Induced plasticity (TRIP).

  • Hot stamped.

  • Martensitic.

  • Quenched and partitioned (Q&P).

  • TRIP bainitic ferrite (TBF).

  • Medium- and high-manganese steels.

  • Other third-generation AHSS concepts.

  • Future concepts.

The conference is the latest installment in a series of product-focused AIST conferences. Following the AHSS Symposia held in Keystone, Colo. (2017); Vail, Colo. (2013); Orlando, Fla. (2008); and Winter Park, Colo. (2004), this conference will be held at the Hythe Vail Hotel in Vail, Colo., USA, on 19-22 June 2023.

It is the goal of the symposium to serve as an international forum for technical exchange among steel professionals from industrial R&D, production, application, design and manufacturing, academia, and government.

Those interested in participating should submit an abstract in English of 150 words or less by 28 October 2022 online.
