Cold Rolling Fundamentals — A Practical Training Seminar

The 2013 Cold Rolling Fundamentals — A Practical Training Seminar was held in conjunction with the Process Systems Specialty Training Conference on 24–28 March 2013 in Detroit, Mich. The course was designed to provide a comprehensive overview of cold rolling, including fundamentals, roll mill designs, rolling theory, gauge and flatness control, inspection practices, lubrication systems, hydraulic systems, roll cooling, roll characteristics, cold mill safety, and operational bottlenecks. Each day concluded with a practical applications section, which allowed the attendees to ask specific questions of the presenters. There were numerous opportunities to network with the trainers and other attendees during receptions, breakfasts and lunches. The training seminar was developed by the AIST Cold Sheet Rolling Technology Committee and had 102 attendees. Severstal Dearborn hosted a tour of its pickle line tandem cold mill and hot-dipped galvanizing line.
Larry Flowers of Severstal Dearborn accepted a plaque of appreciation for hosting the tour of Severstal Dearborn’s pickle line tandem cold mill and its hot-dipped galvanizing line during the Cold Rolling Fundamentals — A Practical Training Seminar.
