Material Handling and Transportation Logistics Training Seminar
Conference Details: 10–12 October 2017, Louisville, Ky., USA
Conference Highlights: There were 48 in attendance. Rob Roberson, director of logistics, Nucor Corp., was the keynote speaker. Roberson discussed how safety goes beyond the numbers — how every number has a name, how every name has a family and how every family needs to be complete.
The 2017 Material Handling and Transportation Logistics Training Seminar was organized by both Material Handling and Transportation & Logistics Technology Committees’ (MHTC and TLTC) education chair, Doug Niksch from Mi-Jack Products. Niksch arranged presentations that featured today’s latest material handling safety innovations applied in the steel industry, including heavy equipment, forklift operations, overhead crane movement, railroad activity, trucking regulations and guidelines, and logistic innovations with alternative fuels, automated equipment and transloading procedures.
This training seminar ended with tours of three transportation facilities: UPS Worldport, Amazon Fulfillment Center and Jeffboat.
