The conference kicked off Tuesday, 5 November, with a presentation by Roger Tang-Poy, vice president — technology, covering ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s vision and strong commitment to health and safety. He also reviewed the structure of their technology organization and highlighted their World Class Continuous Improvement Program and Strategic Playbook. 
Michael Dudzic wrapped up the afternoon with highlights of how ArcelorMittal Dofasco has been transforming technology through digitalization, emphasizing that solutions are specific and each site needs to finding what works for your particular mill when it comes to digitalization and seeing what the future may hold between producers and customers.
The next day’s presentations included an overview of ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s 8-stage Capital Investment Project Methodology by Cameron Mitchell, a review of the Hot Strip Mill Modernization project by David Colbert and George Atlija, highlights from the Steelmaking Improvement Project by Stephanie Holko, and an overview of the No. 4 and 6 Galvanizing Lines by Kevin Wig. Wig’s presentation shared how their galvanizing project repurposed an existing mill building and constructed what is now the tallest APC tower in North America.
ArcelorMittal Dofasco showcased five Industry 4.0 projects in the afternoon. From Safety, Reliability, Quality, Steelmaking and Operations, ArcelorMittal Dofasco uses digitalization and technology to improve operations and create efficiencies across all areas.
Attendees and members of the Project & Construction Management Technology Committee enjoyed a tour of ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s No. 4 and 6 Galvanizing Lines and Central Shipping on the morning of Thursday, 7 November.
