SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY


Daniel M. Killeen
Vice President – Gary Works, United States Steel Corporation

Daniel M. Killeen was named vice president U. S. Steel – Gary Works in 2020, where he leads the two facilities that make up the Gary Works: the Gary Works Plant in Gary, Ind., and the Midwest Plant in Portage, Ind. Killeen joined U. S. Steel in 1996 as a management associate at Gary Works. He went on to work in a series of increasingly responsible positions in the Iron and Steelmaking departments at U. S. Steel’s Mon Valley Works. In 2007, he relocated to U. S. Steel Serbia to serve as general manager of finishing operations before taking the role of general manager of primary operations in 2008. In 2009, he returned to the United States as the division manager of Steel Production at Gary Works, where he remained until 2011 when he returned to Europe as plant manager operations at U. S. Steel Serbia. In 2012, he transferred to U. S. Steel Košice, serving in the roles of operational improvement and safety. In 2013, Killeen returned to Gary Works where he held a number of positions in coking, finishing, and primary operations before advancing to the position of plant manager primary operations in 2016. In 2018, he advanced to general manager Gary Works with the responsibility over the day-to-day operations of the Gary Works facility. Killeen is a 1996 graduate of Robert Morris University with a degree in management.
