Panelists
Rene Butler
Sr. Industrial Process Senior Technologist
Tenaris Koppel
Rene Butler is a Senior Industrial Process Technologist at Tenaris Koppel, with experience across several companies including TMK-Ipsco and Vallourec Star. Raised in West Texas by a strong female role model—her single mother, a teacher and business owner—Rene earned a BA in Chemistry from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. She began her career as a middle school math teacher in her hometown of Odessa, Texas, before transitioning into engineering by earning a BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso.
During her educational career, she interned in several industries including semiconductor research and copper refining before finding her passion in the steel industry.
A long-time member of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), she participates in conferences and technology committees to stay engaged with industry advancements. She also serves on the Tenaris Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Committee, contributing to fostering a more inclusive and equitable workplace. In addition, she is a dedicated leader in the Ohio Federation of Business and Professional Women the Region and State levels, advocating for professional growth and equity for women both at work and in their personal lives.
Outside of work, Rene is married with five children and six grandchildren and greatly understands the importance and challenge of striving for a healthy work/life balance. If she had the opportunity to do it all over again, she would happily do so, but as a magically appointed Michelin Star inspector so that she could get paid to eat, travel and drink.
