  1. Specific activities toward building connections with a steel company or supplier to the steel industry
  2. Specific activities toward building student interest in the steel industry
  3. Plans for a steel related student campus event and other programs to obtain direct student contact with the steel industry
  4. Resume and present position, and years of tenure-track
  5. Estimated distribution of total costs by year
  6. Names and contact information of mentors
  7. Letter of support from university department head
  8. Letters of support from academia and industry mentors
  9. A proposed metric for gauging success, e.g. the number of students entering the steel industry

Whenever possible, specifically allocable costs of a proposal should be requested and justified in the proposal as direct costs.  In an effort to ensure our support of the indirect costs associated with programs/projects the AIST Foundation funds, and to be consistent in that support, it is the policy of the AIST Foundation to limit university or agency administrative fee allowances to 15% of any of its grant awards.  The AIST Foundation reserves the right to assess grants on a case by case basis to determine the application of this policy.

All scholarships and grants are awarded in accordance with AIST Foundation’s policies, which may be amended from time to time, and are subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees.  Scholarships and grants are awarded subject to availability and funding and AIST Foundation reserves the right to withdraw or amend any listed scholarship or grant without prior notification.  Scholarships and grants may be suspended or revoked at any time at the Board’s discretion.  In no event shall the AIST Foundation or the Board of Trustees be liable for any claim or cost associated with suspending or revoking any scholarship or grant.  All decisions by the Board shall be final and may not be appealed.
