Subscription to Iron & Steel Technology

You'll receive three printed issues of Iron & Steel Technolgy and electronic access to 12 monthly issues per year at AIST's Digital Library. Published monthly by AIST, Iron & Steel Technology is the premier the premier technical journal for metallurgical, engineering, operating and maintenance personnel in the iron and steel industry.  Each month in Iron & Steel Technology readers will find timely peer-reviewed articles addressing theory, technology and practical applications, and the in latest industry news, product and professional highlights, as well as an industry-wide calendar of upcoming seminars, meetings and events.
Students may submit career notices for publication in Iron & Steel Technology at no charge.

An AIST publication, provides the latest industry news in an affordable, objective format. Coverage includes regular updates on the people, producers and suppliers in the global steel community.

Access to the AIST Digital Library

The AIST Digital Library is an online repository of more than 10,000 downloadable technical articles from AIST’s monthly journal, Iron & Steel Technology, current and past steel-related conference proceedings, and industry data. Student members can download 25 technical articles per quarter and have unlimited access to full issues of Iron & Steel Technology.

Discounted Registration for AISTech—The Iron & Steel Technology Conference and Exposition

Material Advantage members can take advantage of many benefits when planning to attend AISTech, Steel's Premier Technology Event. AISTech will have special pricing in place for student members who register in advanceshowing their photo student ID cards (photocopies are acceptable), and proof of Material Advantage membership.

Advanced registration is FREE for full time Material Advantage members, and US$30 for non-member full time students. Late registration is US$30 for Material Advantage members and US$60 for non-member students.

Student members are also offered the opportunity to earn money while acting as session monitors at AISTech. Questions about being a session monitor should be addressed to Chris McKelvey at

Publication Discounts

Material Advantage membership entitles you to a 50% discount on the nonmember price of all AIST publications. Contact AIST Member Services at +1.724.814.3000, ext. 1 to place your Material Advantage discount order.

Training and Travel Funds

The AIST Foundation provides assistance for students to attend AIST Specialty Training Conferences and  Member Chapter Chapter meetings through the Steel to Students Member Chapter Connection. The program covers the cost of meals for up to ten students (and an accompanying professor) per school to attend AIST Member Chapter meetings. Student Resume Board

The AIST Student Resume Board is open year-round to post resumes for those students seeking jobs or internships. The resume board is shared with steel company HR contacts.  Graduates are invited to send a PDF file to Chris McKelvey at AIST using the following file name format: “Last Name - Area of Study/Major - Position (internship, or job)”
(Example:  “Jones - Material Science - Internship.pdf”)
Resumes remain posted for approximately one year. If you wish to update the resume, simply send an updated file.  If you wish to have it removed, contact Chris McKelvey.
