The AIST Globe-Trotters Member Chapter held its 2012 annual meeting in Jacksonville, Fla., on 8–11 September. This year’s meeting had more than 225 attendees. The program kicked off Sunday morning with two operator roundtable discussions (meltshop and rolling), followed by two operator-supplier roundtable discussions in the afternoon (meltshop and rolling). On Monday, 10 September, the attendees took a tour of Gerdau Jacksonville, with a majority returning to a beautiful day at the annual golf outing, held at St. Johns Golf Club. The 2012 Globe-Trotters meeting concluded on Tuesday morning, 11 September, with technical sessions on various topics in both meltshop and rolling mill technology. The meeting culminated with a dinner Tuesday evening and an informative talk given by Philip Bell, director — external communications, Gerdau North America. Also during the dinner, the Globe-Trotters announced their four scholarship winners for 2012: Ryne Somers, Jonathan Leffew, Jordyn Reed and Olivia King. An additional scholarship was given in honor of Stuart Gray to Taylor Bott. The 2013 Globe-Trotters annual meeting will be held in New Orleans, La., with the host mill being ArcelorMittal La Place.
