Applications are reviewed and eight (8) full-time undergraduate students enrolled in a degree-granting college or university program are selected to present their project at AISTech. High school students, including those participating in dual-enrollment or early college programs, are not eligible to compete. The topic of the project is unlimited but must be technical in nature. Students are assigned 15-minute sessions to present their research and conclusions. Participants are judged on overall knowledge of project topic, thoroughness of the content, and presentation skills. Each student selected to present receives US$300 toward travel expenses, and the presentations receiving the top scores receive cash prizes: US$1,500 for first place, US$1,000 for second place and US$500 for third place.
