My time at Metallus Inc., made possible by the AIST Foundation, has been the most effective experiential learning opportunity I have had so far. In my time here, I have been able to combine theory and soft skills with the technical knowledge necessary to improve the steel industry. Although hanging around the melt deck was the most interesting part of my experience, the time I spent analyzing data and creating capability models.
Technical skills aside, I also got to use the soft skills I have spent my life learning. The projects I worked on were guided by a group of industry professionals and further reinforced my belief that success comes from settling into and embracing one’s role. I was given the opportunity to work as a team, to make independent decisions about my own projects, and pass on my effort as a tool that will be useful even after my departure from my internship. All my achievements were made possible with the support of the AIST Foundation.
