AIST is proud to unveil the Roadmap for Iron and Steel Manufacturing: Revolutionizing U.S. Global Leadership for a Sustainable Industrial Supply Chain — a project funded by a multiyear grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This comprehensive Roadmap outlines the technologies, infrastructure and workforce strategies necessary to decarbonize the U.S. iron and steel industry while strengthening global competitiveness across the value chain.

Oliva Dippo, chief executive officer and co-founder, Limelight Steel, was hooked on the steel industry during her Introduction to Materials Science and Engineering class at Carnegie Mellon University. “I always wanted to know ‘why, why, why’ – understanding phenomena across length scales satisfied some deeply held curiosities.”Now as a co-founder of a steel company, Dippo has been excited about the way the industry has responded to her start-up, including the growth in the celebration of women in steel over the past few years.
