Call for Presentations: 33nd AIST Crane Symposium

The AIST Crane Symposium is the premier event in the steel and heavy duty crane industry. Each year, knowledgeable and experienced crane engineers, builders, mechanics and operators deliver practical, experience based presentations to an audience deeply engaged in heavy duty electric overhead crane operations.

The 33rd AIST Crane Symposium will center on the theme “Back to the Future II,” highlighting the essential elements required for safe, reliable and efficient crane performance: runways, rail, wheels, wire ropes, brakes and safety best practices. Presentations will focus on advancements in traditional crane technology; safe work practices and ergonomics; electrical, mechanical and structural maintenance techniques; and crane inspection technologies. This year’s program will also feature case studies and open discussions addressing key issues facing owners and users of overhead cranes in steel and heavy industries. As part of the program, the Charlie Totten Crane Innovator Award winner will be announced, recognizing the individual who has brought forth the latest technology or increased efficiencies in operational and maintenance practices for the continuous improvement of heavy cranes.

Attendees represent all facets of the overhead crane field, including crane maintenance personnel, crane manufacturers, equipment suppliers and engineering consultants. The symposium regularly attracts participants from steel producing countries around the world, fostering a truly international exchange of ideas and practical case studies.

To encourage candid discussion and ensure the most current information is shared, written manuscripts are not required. Authors will submit a PowerPoint presentation, which will be made available to attendees.

This announcement will serve as the initial call for papers. Please submit abstracts through the submission form by 30 October 2026.
