Outreach Program
The Steel to Students Outreach Program is available to encourage AIST Member Chapters and Technology Committees to conduct their events on or near a university / trade school campus.
►Application
For AIST Member Chapters:
The AIST Foundation will reimburse the cost of facility/room rental and audio visual equipment (up to US$500 total) for Member Chapters wishing to hold their meetings on (or within 5 miles of) a university campus. Working with the Faculty Advisors or Department Chair at the university, faculty and students in any courses related to iron and steel must be invited to attend the meeting. If a meal is planned as part of the meeting, chapter members will be charged for tickets, while student and faculty participation will be funded separately (as described in Section I). Receipts must be submitted within three weeks of the meeting, along with the completed Foundation form.
AIST staff will provide the Material Advantage Faculty Advisor’s contact information to chapter officers interested in organizing a meeting on (or near) a university campus. Staff and the Faculty Advisor will invite all students from the area to the chapter meeting.
NOTE: Students wishing to attend a Member Chapter Meeting where a technical program is offered are encouraged to apply through the Steel to Students Training Program.
