Other supplied equipment included rolling mill area complete automation—intermediate shears, loopers, and cropping shear; new main command desk; new network architecture (Ethernet, ControlNet and Profibus), including new SCADA control system in client-server configuration, starting from hot charging furnace up to bundles delivery area; safety system based on PLC’s platform and Ethernet networks for all rolling mill area—roughing area, intermediate and finishing mill, shears and perimeter gates; CCTV system; and Secure Remote Device Management (RDM) solution.

The work was completed in two phases planned during standard plant stops (August and December). In the first step, all activities concerning auxiliary services were implemented; during the second step, all tasks related to the rolling mill area and safety system were concluded.
