AISI: August Steel Shipments Up Month-on-Month But Down Year-on-Year
10/17/2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of August 2013, U.S. steel mills shipped 8,343,075 tons, a 0.8% increase from the 8,274,511 tons shipped in the previous month, July 2013, and a 0.4% decrease from the 8,377,162 tons shipped in August 2012.
								Shipments year-to-date in 2013 are 64,019,060 tons, a 3.6% decrease vs. 2012 shipments of 66,404,752 tons for eight months.
 
A comparison of August shipments to the previous month of July shows the following changes: hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 6%, cold rolled sheet, up two% and hot rolled sheet, down 2%.
