AK Steel to Increase Stainless Steel Prices

April 6, 2006 — AK Steel will increase transaction prices for all hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel sheet, strip and continuous mill plate products.
Prices for hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel sheet and strip will increase by approximately 6%, accomplished through a two-percentage-point reduction in the functional discount rate. Prices for stainless steel continuous mill plate products will increase by approximately 9%, accomplished through a three-percentage-point reduction in the functional discount rate.
The increases take affect with shipments on April 30, 2006.
Headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, as well as carbon and stainless tubular steel products, for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
