ANDRITZ Bags Order for Nucor Galvanizing Line
11/21/2018 - Nucor Corp. has selected Austrian equipment builder ANDRITZ to supply a new hot-dipped galvanizing line for its Arkansas sheet mill, the company has announced.
“Following the order to supply a pickling line and rolling (equipment) for Nucor’s new cold rolling mill in Hickman, Ark., last year, ANDRITZ succeeded in convincing Nucor once again with its innovative technologies for the hot-dip galvanizing line,” ANDRITZ said in a statement.
The galvanizing line is being designed with a capacity of 455,000 metric tons and will be used to produce coated, high-strength steels primarily for the automotive sector. Start-up is scheduled for the first half of 2021.
Between the galvanizing line and the new cold mill, Nucor is investing nearly US$500 million in the Blytheville, Ark., plant.
