ArcelorMittal’s Ukraine Steel Operation Struck for the Second Time
09/15/2026 - ArcelorMittal announced its operation in Ukraine, Kryvyi Rih, was struck by a ballistic missile for the second time on Saturday.
The company said the attack resulted in two deaths and two injuries. It focused on the area of ironmaking complex #1. There are currently specialists assessing the extent of the damage and what will be required to resume operations. They cannot estimate how long repairs will take at this time.
This is the second missile strike on the operations, with the first occurring in August. Primary steel production is halted while those repairs take place and the rest of the facilities are either idled or running at minimum operating levels, the company said.
