ArcelorMittal Dofasco Orders New Power Plant Boiler
01/06/2017 - ArcelorMittal Dofasco has awarded to a contract to The Babcock & Wilcox Co. for a replacement boiler at its Hamilton, Ontario, mill.
According to Babcock & Wilcox, the boiler will be to make 450,000 pounds of steam per hour, enough to generate 20 megawatts of electricity. The modularized boiler will run on a combination of coke oven and blast furnace gases, the company said.
“The B&W TSSG boiler was designed for an array of industrial and power applications and is well-suited to produce the high-pressure steam necessary for our customer’s power needs,” sMark Low, senior vice president of Babcock & Wilcox’s power business segment, said in a statement.
The order includes burners, a furnace, a steam drum, economizer, ducting and fans. Delivery is scheduled for late this year, and installation is to be completed by August 2018.
