ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih Begins Scheduled Stoppage for Blast Furnace #5
08/19/2011 - PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih has stopped production at its Blast Furnace #5 in preparation for capital repair.
PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih stopped production at its Blast Furnace #5 on Monday, August 15 as scheduled. The purpose of the stoppage is temporary closedown of the furnace in preparation for capital repair.
”The furnace worked out its life time and was stopped as scheduled under control of Gosgorpromnadzor (State Service for Mining Industry Supervision) and ArcelorMittal,” said Rinat Starkov, CEO of ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih. “Capital repair of this furnace was scheduled by ArcelorMittal within core modernization needed for up-to-date ironmaking, environmental view and modern energy-saving and energy-efficient technology.

“The stop of blast furnace will not impact the output because the other blast furnace #9 started to work in normal duty,” added Starkov.
The company noted that this shutdown was scheduled and would not impact iron output from the facility’s Sinter Plant and Blast Furnace Department.
