Baosteel’s Danieli Fastarc Zerobucket EAF Beats Production Record
04/01/2026 - Danieli announced Baosteel’s new Fastarc Zerobucket electric arc furnace (EAF) meltshop has beaten the 10-year record by reaching 31 heats daily.
Danieli said the award follows the achievement of Baosteel’s target it set in January 2026, with a monthly output of 100,000 metric tons of liquid steel and operation expenditure reduction around 200 RMB per ton.
The project to achieve 31 heats daily required coordination due to the plant structure’s constraints, a tight execution schedule and overlapping operations across several production areas.
After installation, the furnace entered operation and production performance was optimized with a charge mix based on scrap and hot metal. Energy consumption was reduced while daily and weekly production targets were met, the company said.
During stabilization, the companies cooperated to enable continuous improvement of operational parameters. Using optimization activities and defect elimination programs, output and energy consumption indicators were enhanced to ensure reliable operation and meet the target needed to beat the record.
