BH Steel (Bosnia i Herzegovina) recently restarted operation of its bar mill in Zenica following Danieli’s installation of a single-strand, high-speed compact roughing mill and a Danieli Centro Combustion tunnel furnace. The tunnel furnace has connecting facilities to the existing twin-strand rolling mill.
The new 4-stand SHS twist-free roughing mill is designed to take up to 150-mm square billets in low- to medium-carbon, low-alloy, spring and bearing steel grades. The mill has a design capacity of up 160 tonnes/hour.
The rolling mill produces 8- to 32-mm diameter round bars, on two strands. The mill upgrade was part of a larger order, awarded to Danieli in 2001, for major expansion of the Zenica steelworks. The project also included a new 100-tonnes/hour complete steel meltshop, which will be soon ready for startup.
Electricals and automation system were supplied by Danieli Automation.
