BlueScope Steel Invests in Capacity Boost at North Star Plant
08/19/2024 - BlueScope Steel Ltd.’s board of directors has given the go-ahead to a US$130 million debottlenecking project at its Ohio sheet mill, the company said in its fiscal year-end earnings announcement.
According to BlueScope, the project encompasses a number of improvements to the Delta, Ohio, facility’s hot strip mill, including an improved cooling setup and a downcoiler upgrade. The work is expected too increase the mill’s capacity by around 10%, taking it to 3.3 million tons annually.
The work is to take place over the next two fiscal years, the company said.
