Boston Metal Hits Setback After Incident at Brazil Facility
02/24/2026 - Boston Metal experienced an equipment failure last month in its Brazil facility which prevented it from hitting an operational milestone required for a funding deal, leading to its decision to lay off 71 people in the U.S., reported Canary Media.
“As a result [of the incident], we lost access to committed capital essential to supporting our operations in both Brazil and the U.S.,” Boston Metal said. The company had over 300 employees before the incident forced it to reduce its American workforce, Canary Media reported.
“In the coming months, our priority will be restoring operations in Brazil and scaling the critical metals business in Brazil, the U.S. and internationally,” the company said.
