Brazilian Mill Upgrades In-Line Inspection
07/09/2020 - An ArcelorMittal mill in Brazil recently upgraded its inspection capabilities by installing a Danieli-built laser gauge on its line, according to Danieli.
In a statement, Danieli said the steelmaker’s Sul Fluminense plant in Barra Mansa added a Danieli HiProfile gauge to inspect large beams and channels.
“The system, featuring ultrahigh-speed laser heads capable of acquiring several hundred profiles per second, allows real-time 3D representation of the bars, accurate dimensional control, and integrated surface-defect detection during rolling.”
Danieli said the equipment connection, tuning and cold testing were completed in eight hours, and a final acceptance certificate was issued soon after.
