Broner Completes Scheduling Project for ArcelorMittal Galati Plate Mill

Broner Metals Solutions has completed a project providing Tracking and Order Scheduling solutions for the Heavy Plate Mill of ArcelorMittal Galati in Romania. 
 
Broner has provided a comprehensive management information and decision support system for the plate mills and their associated slab yards. The system includes real-time abilities to track and trace material as it moves through production; quality management; and state-of-the-art planning, scheduling and optimization tools.
 
ArcelorMittal Galati is using Broner’s Material Planner, Production Planner, Hot Mill Scheduler, Plate Combination, Schedule Editor, and MES execution products, which are fully integrated with Level 2 production control systems and SAP.
 
Benefits resulting from the new Broner solution include improved order scheduling and delivery date planning, better capacity loading for the production centers, and improved calculation of slab requirements. The system also facilitates tight integration of order tracking and scheduling, and improved shipment grouping and planning.
 
The new system also helps the company better respond to changes in customer demands and changes in production through automated scheduling and re-scheduling, improved visibility regarding the impact of changes, and reduction of inventories (both finished goods and Work-in-Progress). The system also allows the company to better manage physical stock in the slab yards, better allocate excess slabs, and better track and identify the plates. The system also helps to improve Lot Completion (i.e. ensuring that complete lots are produced on time, and thus reducing the quantity of incomplete lots at the ports).
