CCR Technologies to Upgrade SDI Columbia City Caster

11/01/2005 - Steel Dynamics has awarded CCR Technologies Inc. a contract to supply a Beam Blank Weighing and Cut-to-Weight system for its existing 3-strand caster at the Columbia City facility.

Steel Dynamics has awarded CCR Technologies Inc. a contract to supply a Beam Blank Weighing and Cut-to-Weight system for its existing 3-strand caster at the Columbia City facility.

SMI Steel recently completed commissioning a new CCR Technologies 4-strand Torch Cut System at its Birmingham, Ala., facility.

CCR Technologies also provided the Roller Tables and Flex-Rigid Starter Bars.

The fully automated cut-to-weight system will provide an accuracy of 1/10 of 1%. It is anticipated the new system will provide overall facility yield savings of 1 to 2%.

Additional orders include new starter bar sections, Mold assemblies, Segments, & Foot Roller assemblies.

CCR Technologies is headquartered in Stoney Creek, Ont., Canada.
