Chinese Steelmaker Puts Fives Bar Straightener on Order
07/17/2017 - Russian equipment manufacturer Fives has won an order for a Bronx straightening machine from Baosteel Special Metals Shaoguan in China.
According to Fives, the two-roll straightener will process bars in diameters of up to 80 mm at an operating rate of 75 m/minute. The machine will be pre-assembled the Fives’ workshop in England and shipped to China at the end of the year.
“It’s a very smart machine -- all work roll and guide bar functions are set automatically from the HMI panel, located within the operator's control desk. Advanced heat-treatment processes and profile technology enables the machine work rolls to provide greater product straightness and ovality criteria, before re-profiling or roll change becomes necessary,” said Jane Zhang, Fives’ Bronx representative in China.
