Cleveland-Cliffs Announces Promotion, Board of Directors Appointment

Celso joined the company in 2016 and has held the positions of executive vice president and chief financial officer since 2021. Before joining Cleveland-Cliffs, he worked in investment banking at Deutsche Bank and Jefferies.

“During his tenure at Cleveland-Cliffs, Celso has been instrumental in helping transform the Company into the largest producer of flat-rolled steel in North America, enhancing financial flexibility, managing capital allocation initiatives, and supporting the execution of the Company's strategic growth and integration objectives,” said Mike Michael, lead director of Cleveland-Cliffs.

The company said part of the promotion includes Lourenco Goncalves relinquishing the title of president while continuing to serve as chairman and chief executive officer.

“Celso's expanded role positions us exceptionally well for the future, ensuring continuity in the execution of the disciplined strategy that has transformed Cleveland-Cliffs into the industry leader it is today,” Lourenco said.
