Concast AG, headquartered in Zurich, and Luxembourg-based Paul Wurth SA, signed an agreement that grants Concast exclusive use of Paul Wurth’s patented Vibromold® technology for the hydraulic oscillation of continuous caster moulds.
The agreement gives Concast the exclusive rights to engineer, manufacture and sell Vibromold technology worldwide, with the exception of the entire Chinese market and parts of the Brazilian market.
Vibromold technology features a compact design that reduces the dynamic weight of the oscillating part of the mould by 95% as compared to conventional moulds. The reduced weight helps to increase oscillation accuracy end eliminate backlash problems. In addition to reduced mechanical stresses and related maintenance, Vibromold technology also allows on-the-fly fine tuning of oscillation parameters for improved surface quality and higher casting speeds.
Concast is a leading supplier of continuous casters for blooms, beam blanks, billets and rounds. The addition of Vibromold technology expands an already extensive palette of specialized caster products for quality steel long products. Additional products include patented Convex Technology® moulds and advanced electromagnetic stirrers (EMS).
