For the 6-strand billet caster, pre-wired and pre-tested automation panels will be designed to minimize wiring and installation, maintaining most of the existing cables. Runout control will be performed using single-billet laser position sensors.
 
For rolling mill #1, the upgrade will focus on mill speed master control and will include redesigned human-machine interface (HMI) screens and a Danieli Automation exclusive technological workstation. The rolling mill #3 upgrade will include auxiliary services, shear controls, a new pulpit, 3Q-HMI control desk and 3Q HMI.
 
The original equipment for the mill was supplied by Danieli Automation more than 20 years ago, according to Danieli.
