Danieli Erects BF Stove in a Day
07/29/2019 - Danieli Corus has pulled off what it says is a first: it erected an entirely pre-fabricated shell of a hot blast stove in a single lift.
The installation is taking place at SSAB’s integrated Oxelösund plant in Sweden, where Danieli is helping to modernize the hot blast system for the plant’s No. 4 blast furnace. Danieli said that in this project, the entire vessel shell was pre-fabricated in an off-site workshop and erected in its operating position in a single lift.
“The erection was smooth thanks to careful planning and consideration with SSAB about ground and underground infrastructure in the blast furnace area,” Danieli said in a statement.
“This effort pays off substantially: the execution of all the welding, coating and inspections in the off-site workshop minimizes on-site work and under more difficult circumstances and plant regulations, saving a considerable number of work hours.”
The new stove is to enter service early next year.
