Danieli Presents EAF Performance Award to Jindal Steel Sohar
01/30/2026 - Danieli announced the 220-metric-ton electric arc furnace (EAF) it supplied to Jindal Steel Sohar’s steelmaking facility in Oman has been awarded for record performance.
The company said the facility set the new monthly production record by tapping 235,112 metric tons of liquid steel. This is equal to an output of over 2.5 million metric tons of cast steel annually.
Danieli said the record was assisted by the recent upgrade of the EAF with Q-MELT adaptive process control, which optimized the furnace operation and provided 96.5% equipment availability.
The furnace operates with 61% hot direct reduced iron (DRI), 37% cold DRI and 2% hot briquetted iron. This gives it a productivity of 324 metric tons per hour and an electrical energy consumption of 493 kWh per metric ton.
