Danieli Receives Final Acceptance on Rolling Mill Improvements
06/08/2020 - Danieli recently upgraded process controls and automation on a special bar quality mill in southeastern Brazil.
According to Danieli, the improvements to the No. 2 rolling mill at Gerdau SA’s Pindamonhangaba facility in São Paulo were carried out during scheduled maintenance outages. Work included installation of a new programmable logic controller governing mill speed and a new control desk with key panel. Process controls for the Garrett coiling lines also were improved, Danieli said.
“Now, the setup of entire rolling mill is managed by a new technological workstation in centralized mode. Moreover, all human-machine interface screens have been redesigned using Danieli Automation standards. To ensure effective traceability of the product, unfinished steel exiting the reheat furnace is followed by a precise tracking system,” the company said.
Danieli said Gerdau has issued the final acceptance certificates on the upgrades.
